About Kyra

As a young girl, Kyra spent her days re-arranging her bedroom and sewing curtains with Laura Ashley fabric to make her space her own. Her father dotingly painted each wall of her bedroom a different pastel color. She dreamed of buying every house on her block and would draw plans of how she could make over each one. Kyra held onto that dream and now holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University. She worked as a junior architect & interior designer in Boston & San Francisco. Her passion for interiors led to product design for Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids. After years of traveling in the US and abroad building her career, Kyra returned to her roots on the South Coast.

As a designer, Kyra launched Kyra Ayn HOME which focuses on residential and commercial interiors. Kyra has a passion for interior architecture and focuses on space planning, floor plan reconfiguration and specification of hard goods and surfaces as opposed to soft goods which is interior decorating. She can reconfigure the architecture of your home, not just manipulate furniture. Kyra loves sharing her passion for design with her students at RISD in the CE interior design program. She is inspired by her students creativity as they work on real life projects together.

With decades of experience designing, building and remodeling, Kyra is a wealth of knowledge and opinions when you have questions about a home you may purchase:

  • Is it well built? Can I remove this wall?
  • How much will a new kitchen cost?
  • Is this a diamond in the rough or is it just rough?

Interior designer and Realtor—but her favorite title is Mom to her three children. Kyra favors real life, whimsical family friendly interiors that work with your lifestyle and changing needs. She designs hard working, functional, beautiful kitchens with a variety of materials. She’s outgrown the Laura Ashley fabric and pastel walls from her childhood, but still loves creating comfortable inspiring spaces that invite you in and make you want to stay.

Kyra is also the creative director of the running-inspired lifestyle brand Women Run Inc. She lives in South Dartmouth, Massachusetts with her children and dog.
